Shoebunny spotted Sarah Jessica Parker in clear “Targisan” sandals from Manolo Blahnik.
These are the same sandals Shoebunny already spotted Laury Linney in a previous posting.
These clear lucite and metallic stiletto sandals are simple, elegant, and very feminine. A classic shoe which will never go out of style - just the style Shoebunny likes. The sandals feature lucite criss-cross straps in the front, lucite ankle straps, silver metal buckle and grommets on back strap, and the famous 4″ heel.
In 1971 Manolo Blahnik started his shoe empire during a trip to New York where he met Diana Vreeland - editor of U.S. Vogue. After watching his portfolio of sketches she encouraged Blahnik to go into accessories - shoes.
We all know the masterpieces of Maestro Blahnik. What is more remarkable is that Blahnik has no formal training, he mastered the art of shoe making by himself: “I didn’t need it because I’ve got the best taste in the world.”
Still today he alone is responsible for his shoe business: from sketching the shoe drafts, creating the wooden lasts and heels, to supervising the production in his factories in Italy. His success is founded in years of practice and total dedication to the art of shoe design: “I have the advantage of study. I’ve been studying the art of the shoe […] for over twenty years. I know every process. I know how to cut and cut away here and still make it so that it stays on the foot. And the secret of toe cleavage, a very important part of the sexuality of the shoe. You must only show the first two cracks. And the heel. Even if it’s twelve centimetres high it still has to feel secure – and that’s a question of balance. That’s why I carve each heel personally myself – on the machine and then by hand with a chisel and file, until it’s exactly right.”
