Shoebunny spotted Karoline Amaral in snake skin Manolo Blahnik slides.
What an awesome shoe! The colors, the snake skin print, and the bow - just another fantastic masterpiece of the Maestro. No wonder Shoebunny loves them and couldn’t resist
What is fascinating about Mr. Blahnik is the fact that he alone has build his shoe empire (in 1973 he started his shoe shop with his sister Evangelina). In the U.S. his business began to soar when he started his partnership with George Malkemus in 1982.
Even more remarkable: Manolo Blahnik is self-taught - without any formal training in the craft of shoe making: “I didn’t need it [formal training], because I’ve got the best taste in the world.”
While such a taste is required for producing the most sought-after shoes in the world, Manolo Blahnik also has the freedom to fully express his taste, as he still controls the complete process from shoe design to manufacturing, and even (the rare) marketing: “[I] never get into the trap of trends. My shoes don’t change drastically from season to season. I think it’s awfully rude to ask someone to pay a lot of money for a pair of shoes, and then have them be ‘out’ the next season. People are not stupid. They know what they want, and they should get it.”
