And here’s the story of the designer, Azzedine Alaia was born in Tunisia in the year 1940. Alaia discovered at early age his passion for art and design and decided to go all the way to live his creativity. He even lied about his age to get into the local Ecole des Beaux-Arts to study sculpture. One day he noticed an advertisement for a vacancy at a dressmaker’s and that’s where he started making copies of couture dresses for neighbors. After this experience he went to Paris to work for Christian Dior where he stayed about five years. He moved to Guy Laroche, where he learned for two seasons his craft. In 1960, the “Blegiers” family noticed Alaia and kept him for the next five years as the dressmaker to the Countess and her friends. It was at that time that Alaia came in touch with the glamorous high society of Paris, where he gathered his first clientèle, following him when he started out on his own becoming successful worldwide. In 2000, Alaia joined forces with the Prada group. Today Alaïa lives in Paris, where he still designs fantastic shoes and fashion creations.
