Shoebunny spotted Katie Couric in flat lace-up gladiator sandals from Tara Subkoff for Easy Spirit.
The sandals feature [tag]lace-up leather straps[/tag] at foot and ankle, leather bands at sides, and soft [tag]suede midsole[/tag] and rubber sole.
[tag]Easy Spirit[/tag], shoes that “looks like a pump and feels like a sneaker“, are not among the usual suspects in Shoebunny’s closet, as the company is known more for comfort than high fashion. However, [tag]Tara Subkoff[/tag] of [tag]Imitation of Christ[/tag] designed some adorable flat gladiator sandals for the IoC spring/summer 2005 collection.
In most cases the attempt to combine [tag]practical footwear[/tag] with fashion fails, but not in Tara’s collection. There’s truly no need to wear high heels 24×7, you can look marvelous in flat shoes, too. As Tara says: “We are in the future. It’s almost 2005. We really are designing for women who want very much to be comfortable, but they care about fashion and want to look good, too. They don’t want to compromise their integrity or their sense of style.”
In another interview Tara added: “As women, we can’t lose sight of what is really meaningful. I want to inspire women to look at their inner beauty and empower themselves and carry themselves in a different way. That is what this collection is all about. Treating your body well and at the same time being able to look stylish. Not having to give up style for comfort.”
And Shoebunny, athough a real addict of designer high heels, could not resist these heavenly comfortable gladiator sandals. The Easy Spirit gladiator sandals are not like normal comfort shoes, they are special because they are designed by a real artist: Tara Subkoff is well-known among shoe lovers. Her sandals are gorgeous and not only a pleasure to walk in, but also very attractive on tanned legs. And sometimes you just have to take it easy.
